As the honorary dean, I hope to continue the vast strides made by EMDI as a platform for vocational training since its establishment in 2004. It is through the commitment and dedication of its staff as well as its students that EMDI has made a name for itself as one of the leading educational institutes in its field.

Part of this success, I feel, has been due to EMDI’s ability to integrate and bring together industry and academia, with an impressive mix of students from the East and West. This is evident in the international scope of its students, as well as the comprehensive range of subjects offered, allowing each individual to find their own voice mentored by industry professionals.

The field of media education – and all that comes under its umbrella, from communication, advertising to music, fashion, journalism and beyond – has a critical training element. We must foster the next generation by not only developing and honing their existing talents, but by allowing students to fulfil their true potential by enhancing every individual’s personal strengths and by transferring our learning curve to such aspirants.

I look forward to the exciting times we have ahead, and to the myriad of opportunities that will arise with EMDI during your tenure with us
